On 5 June, the Fressnapf Group celebrated the opening of its first store in the Netherlands under the name Maxi Zoo in Maastricht. This was followed by the opening of another store in Coevoerden on 19 June. With the new 800 square metres Maxi Zoo stores in the Netherlands, the company is continuing to expand its business in Europe and is setting standards in pet retailing with a modern store concept. The experts at umdasch The Store Makers also have reason to celebrate, as they have been supporting the international rollout of the Future Store concept on the shopfitting side not only in the Netherlands, but also in five other European countries since January 2024.

Shopfitting made in Austria

“Happier pets. Happier people.” This vision of the Fressnapf Group characterises the customer experience in the new stores in the Netherlands. The Store Makers from umdasch, who equipped the stores in Maastricht and Coevoerden with shopfitting solutions made in Austria, proved to be a reliable partner for the Fressnapf Group.

“Rollouts require comprehensive project management and the timely completion of projects of any size in customised quality - this is precisely our passion,” explains Rainer Schmid, Key Account Manager at umdasch The Store Makers. “We are all the more proud to be able to support Fressnapf in the international implementation of the Future Store format.”

All about the store concept

The Maxi Zoo stores in Maastricht and Coevoerden with the shopfitting solutions from umdasch The Store Makers are characterised by brightness, modern flair and clear orientation. A simple design with dark elements in an industrial style creates an inviting atmosphere. The clear layout with deliberately low shelves at the front of the store is particularly striking. The Store Makers from umdasch are responsible for the realisation of various shelving areas in this project, which are manufactured with great passion in Austria.

Meat Corner for market flair

In both Maastricht and Coevoerden, the shopfitting experts at umdasch have also created a so-called Meat Corner. In the Meat Corner, customers will not only find ready-made menus, but also individual components to create a complete menu for their furry friends. The Meat Corner consists of anthracite grey furniture and wooden crates with dog snacks presented in a fresh and sustainable way. This gives customers the feeling that they are buying dog snacks straight from the market stall.

Exchange and advice for animal lovers

The service advice module, co-developed by umdasch The Store Makers, offers consumers in the Dutch stores an inviting atmosphere in which to talk to store staff about their pets and receive valuable tips. The module is designed in the form of a large wooden table with a superstructure reminiscent of a cosy home. Adjacent to this area is the ‘Garden World’, which displays a range of outdoor products and is framed by decorative birch tree trunks to emphasise the natural ambience of the store.
