With umdasch to successfully implemented store concepts
At the beginning, there is a concept. In the end, a stunning store. We support our clients in detailed planning processes and in implementing their tailor made retail experience. The Store Makers translate the creative concepts of leading architects and designers into production-ready approval drawings. By working with very talented designers and material specialists we are able to fulfil the most unusual material wishes of our sophisticated customers. Selected material samples convey the haptic experience. In order to put the concept through its paces at an early stage and to make the store tangible, 3D modelling is an integral part of the design engineering. New furniture designs in particular are prototyped to get a detailed understanding of the product. The design engineering is always completed with the actual production and a subsequent quality control - so nothing stands in the way of the punctual opening.
Based on the tender requirements of the architects consisting of first drawings, drafts, finished concepts, documents or simply existing specifications, the Store Makers of umdasch create a first concept. Included in this are always first planning drawings of the presented ideas. A wide range of parameters must be taken into account right from the start: aesthetics, material specifications and availability, lighting, operational use, manufacturing options, delivery restrictions, installation optimisation, and ease of maintenance.
To execute a project of complexity as fast as possible all project participants (designer and project manager of the client, architect, cost consultant, lighting designer, structural engineer,…) need accurate and clear information to make decisions quickly. To enable that the project moves forward in the required pace it is mandatory for the Store Makers to start a project with a Kick-Off Meeting, where all requirements for the project are set in an intent document. Weekly design workshops round off the concise internal and external coordination and communication and thus guarantee a fast and clean project progress.
Based on the technical intent document, the design team at umdasch The Store Makers creates specific production drawings & designs. Together with the factory specialists, they transfer hand sketches to production drawings and send the final drawings to the customer for review.
Gaining maximum benefit from the input of the project team and the customer, samples and small mock-ups are presented during the weekly workshop meetings. After the review of different materials and key details in the samples, the production drawings will be specified and prepared for 3D-modelling.
In the next step, the Store Makers from umdasch create 3D-models of the planned spaces. In these they can ‘walk round’ and zoom in, so that the elements can be viewed from all angles. An overview is given of how the elements of furniture will interact with each other. This gives the client's design team an immediate insight into the smallest details and enables quick decisions with a clear understanding of the criteria for everyone involved in the project.
For equipment, which has not been previously produced or reviewed, the Store Makers of umdasch recommend an extra prototyping, which ensures that all specifications of the project are technologically proven and the shape, scale and interaction within the scheme look as the customer wishes.
At the end, the production team of the Store Makers adds any agreed changes made to the items and the final 3D-models to the production plans and optimises them to suit the material and the production processes. The certainty produced during the design workshops creates a secure pathway for fast production for both our customers and us.
Our Shop Consultants are committed to designing creative and appealing stores that also make an important contribution to protecting our environment. At every stage of the design consultancy process, we look at how sustainable solutions can be implemented.
With the aim of harmonising sustainability and aesthetics, our shop consultants develop unique concepts for our customers in individual workshops. Sustainable solutions range from site concepts and the use of sustainable materials to modular shop systems with the smallest possible environmental footprint.
