The New Office and Manufacturing Facilities in Dubai Open!
The opening of the new home of umdasch the Store Makers in the Middle East was celebrated on 25 April 2019 and was a huge success. The Store Makers celebrated more than 150 years of corporate history, more than 30 years of business in the Middle East, more than 10 years of manufacturing in Dubai and the Grand Opening of our new factory in Dubai Investment Park 2.
The official opening ceremony and ribbon cutting was conducted by Chief Financial Officer – Mr. Markus Thallinger, Managing Director Mr. Patrick Fallmann and Mr. Nico Krautwald of umdasch The Store Makers Middle East along with Mag. Richard Bandera, the Trade Commissioner of the Austrian Embassy to the UAE.
After everyone together took the historical steps through the cut ribbon, guests were toured through the office and the manufacturing facilities in six individual groups to learn more about the new infrastructure, machines and manufacturing processes. This was followed by a more detailed presentation of the umdasch story, how it all began in 1868 and an overview of the impressive portfolio of recent references.
In line with corporate policies for a future powered by more sustainable energy, Tesla cars were arranged waiting outside the new factory as a surprise shuttle service to take all guests to City Walk Dubai for the Fashion Day Austria at the Day 2 of the Arab Fashion Week.
The Store Makers in the Middle East were proud to showcase their recently completed 1422.store, which is now celebrated as the world’s first Ready-Couture store and at the same time the permanent home for the Arab Fashion Council (AFC). According to AFC’s founder and CEO, Jacob Abrian, “1422 stands for the AFC’s slogan, 1 Council for 22 Arab Countries.” The store pays homage to the individuality and elegance of the Arab woman and celebrates high quality, exclusive fashion.
The Store Makers are very proud to be part of this landmark project and to join efforts with the Arab Fashion Council and Meraas, in redefining the luxury retail landscape of the region and by sharing experience from more than 30 years of delivering successful stores in the Middle East.
The Fashion Day Austria displayed some very talented local and international designers. The highlight was the participation of the renowned Austrian Fashion Designer Juergen Christian Hoerl, who displayed in an especially for Dubai created collection timeless elegance, sophisticated lightness and conscious understatement to reflect the zeitgeist of an urban lifestyle.

After exclusive access to this this red-carpet-event where our guests and many Arab Celebrities were posing in front of umdasch flags and banners, the night was concluded with the “Let’s raise the roof”-Afterparty at the Lookup Rooftop Lounge of the LaVille Hotel in City Walk Dubai.
